Robert Cameron

Chief Marshal

 

Chief Robert Cameron became the inaugural Chief Marshal of the Saskatchewan Marshals Service in January of 2024. He believes strongly in building safer communities by reducing crime through targeted enforcement and strong partnerships with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and municipal police services.

Chief Cameron is extremely proud to lead the Marshals service and help create safer communities for the people of Saskatchewan.

Career

Chief Cameron has worked in law enforcement since 1989 when he joined the RCMP, where he served for almost 29 years in a variety of roles including:

  • general duty;
  • gang and drug units;
  • federal enforcement; and
  • critical incident program.

His last role in the RCMP was the Federal Criminal Operations Officer and Provincial Critical Incident Command Coordinator in Saskatchewan.

He retired from the RCMP in 2017 to take on the role of Executive Director of Policing with Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Justice and in 2019 became the Assistant Deputy Minister of Policing with the Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety (CPPS). He was also the Commissioner of the Provincial Protective Services branch under CPPS with over 500 peace officers and staff.

Achievements and Recognitions

Chief Cameron is a recipient of:

  • the Queen’s Golden and Platinum Jubilee medals;
  • the RCMP Long Service medal and 25-year clasp;
  • a Commanding Officer’s Commendation for Bravery; and
  • a 2022 Deputy Minister’s Award of Excellence in Leadership.

Personal Life

Chief Cameron is married and has two daughters.
